Writing sessions that really work for KS2
Best-suited to teachers of upper KS2 classes, but designed to equip teachers with practical approaches for all abilities, participants should bring along examples of pupils’ learning, and should also expect to write their own pieces and workshop ideas.
Primary school children are capable of writing with great flair and sophistication, but they need inspiring tasks and an inspiring classroom environment to achieve this. Rachel is offering an intensive and hands-on course ideal for teachers seeking to bring out the best in their pupils’ writing.
In three linked & practice-based sessions participants will be taken through the writing process, the choice and structure of effective tasks, and the use of reading, role play and class discussion to underpin writing. The sessions will include advice on the best classroom resources and writing ground-rules to establish, on differentiating outcomes, and the optimum use of feedback and marking to support children’s writing progress.
Rachel Seiffert has published three novels, The Dark Room (2001), Afterwards (2007), The Walk Home (2014) and an acclaimed collection of short stories, Field Study (2004). Through Rachel they had clearly been provided with both a fantastic stimulus, but also excellent tuition in the use of language and structure, to inspire such depth and quality of writing. She is a fantastic asset for any school to have.’
Cost covers all three sessions. Participants should attend all three sessions.
